The municipality of Assen (Netherlands) takes the first electric sweeper into use. Making them the first municipality in the Netherlands with a RAVO 5 eSeries. Bob Bergsma from Assen: “We want to make the municipality’s fleet more sustainable. With the purchase of this fully electric sweeper, we are taking another important step in the right direction. The machine is not only cleaner, but also the quietest machine of its kind. That makes it more pleasant for the people who work with it, but also for our residents”. The municipality of Assen strives for a vehicle fleet that is completely CO2 neutral by 2030. For new purchases, only the greenest options are considered. In addition to an electric sweeper, the municipality also has a number of electric service cars and the municipality is switching to electric hand tools. Robotic mowers are also being used as a trial to mow sports fields and all diesel vehicles are equipped with HVO100 (a diesel replacement) instead of “normal diesel”, a much more sustainable fuel.
